Giving back to the aviation community is at the heart of the motivation for ArkanSTOL

WOW, it’s hard to believe that we are already gearing up for our 4th ArkanSTOL Backwoods Challenge! Something that started out as an idea around a campfire has turned into an event that draws folks from all over the aviation community to our little piece of heaven in Ozark, Arkansas. There isn’t a more beautiful setting to host a STOL event anywhere!

This event couldn’t happen without the amazing work of our Volunteers – the true key to our success!  We have positions for everyone – all that is needed is a smile and a willingness to work.  Once you spend a little time with us, you will become like the rest of us - just plane crazy! We invite you to join our aviation family!

Volunteers are needed to marshal and park aircraft, provide campground transportation, monitor safety lines, help with volunteer support plus many other jobs. Youth are welcome to participate but, if under the age of 16, must be accompanied by a parent volunteer.  Physical limitations? No worries! We have a job for you!

A safety briefing is required to volunteer and we ask that you work at least two 4 (four) hour shifts (more is always welcome and needed!). You will receive a wristband that grants you access to the event, discounted camping (dry rv and primitive), a ticket to Friday night’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and, if registered early, you will also receive a Volunteer T-shirt. Each volunteer must register separately (additional people who are NOT volunteering can register with you).  Camping registration will also be available for you and your party, with the Volunteer’s camping generously discounted by Byrds.
